John M. Rogers, Esq. is a licensed practicing attorney, sharing office space with another estate planning and trust administration firm. He was admitted to practice before the Ohio Bar in 2002.

Obtaining his Juris Doctor (JD) from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University, John went on to achieve his Master of Law Degree (LLM) in Tax at the University of Alabama’s School of Law. He is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, where he has served in various capacities, including the association’s president. John’s legal experience includes having worked in the Lake County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as an Assistant and Supervising Attorney, followed by serving as a Deputy Treasurer with the Lake County Treasurer’s Office.

Before starting his law practice, John served as the State Representative for Ohio’s 60th House District, which included the communities of Eastlake, Fairport Harbor, Grand River, Lakeline, Mentor-on-the-Lake, the City of Painesville, portions of Painesville Township, Timberlake, Wickliffe, Willoughby, and Willowick.

John began his distinguished career in public service in 1988 when he was appointed to Mentor-on-the-Lake’s City Council. He served in that position until 1993 and was then appointed the Mayor and Safety Director, during which time he was re-elected five times through 2012. During that time, he restructured the fire department’s operations, and the police department was nationally recognized and accredited by the Commission on Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) on five separate occasions.

While serving as Mayor, John oversaw the operations of all city departments, managing employees and a budget averaging over $4.5 million annually. He brought infrastructure improvements to the city, promoted local development for small businesses, and created new jobs and housing units, generating additional tax revenue.

John partnered with the Mentor Public Library System to build a permanent branch in the city and with the Lake Metro Parks to oversee improvements to all of the community’s parks.
